Delete your account and data

1. Delete in the app

1. Open the app and tap “Account” at the bottom.
2. Choose the “Settings” tab.
3. Tap “Delete account” and confirm twice.

This also works if you use the app as a guest without an e-mail account. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

2. Delete without the app, by e-mail

Write to […] from your account’s e-mail address with the subject “Delete account”. If the request comes from a different address, we first have to verify that the account belongs to you. We delete your account without undue delay, at the latest within one month, and confirm the deletion by e-mail.

3. What is deleted

• your account and sign-in data: e-mail address, password hash, display name, level, learning language, avatar,
• all your learning progress: answers, review schedule, streaks, points and favourites,
• game data (for example duels), reports and messages you sent us, AI usage counters and reminders,
• your sign-in and the locally stored settings on the device (when you delete in the app).

All personal data is deleted from every part of our database, immediately. Backups are overwritten within 30 days.

4. What is kept

• Financial records: payments, receipts and Apple or Google purchase records are kept only for as long as tax and commercial law require (Section 147 AO, Section 257 HGB: up to 10 years). They are pseudonymised: your user ID is replaced so that the records no longer identify you. They are used for this purpose only.
• Server logs: are deleted automatically after no more than 14 days.

5. Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not cancel a running subscription. Please cancel it first, either in the app via “Manage subscription” or in the subscription settings of your Apple ID (https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions) or Google Play (https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions).
